Preliminary Task

This is my Preliminary Front Cover. I chose the name Strive because it connotes ambitition, achievement and motivation to its audience. This Magazine I decided to make it for parents of primary school children. This is because the children are still young and the parents haven't been parenting for long so they are more likely to want advice on how to get the best out of their child. My colour scheme was picked because I wanted to use the most used primary school uniform colours. My research said that red, blue and burgundy were very popular colours. I deliberately chose a contemporary magazine design because modern parents are used to being exposed to dynamic and 'in your face' types of media. So I wanted the front cover to look more like a popular magazine. I wanted the model to look very naturally pretty and like an average school girl. I managed this by doing a photoshoot with an average school girl without any enhancements with make up. I then edited the photo using comercially available software to get rid of any imperfections. I used a few different fonts because I wanted it to look like there was lots of different features in the magazine and using different fonts makes each title or leader look separate. I would have this printed at A4 size because the majority of magazines for that sort of age group are A4 and I don't want the target audience to feel that because it's a small magazine it doesn't have as much information in it.
This is my Preliminary Contents Page. The colour scheme matches the front cover. All the pictures on it are ones I took and edited. They all have something to do with the feature on that certain page. I wanted not only the colour scheme to theme through the magazine but the models as well. The Pictures I wanted to look like two girls having fun like they might at school. The title I chose to get the letters from different logos and put them together. I like the add of colour it puts on the page. This time I decided I wanted the same font for all the features because I wanted the page to look organised.
